STEPHANIE SANCHEZ

MEET STEPHANIE

In recent seasons, dynamic mezzo-soprano Stephanie Sánchez has brought her "luscious sound and easy technique" (Classical Voice North America) to companies including Arizona Opera, Opera Montana, Opera Southwest, Cincinnati Opera, The Ravinia Festival and The Lyric Opera of Chicago.  Her 2023/24 season saw major role debuts including  Die Hexe in Hänsel und Gretel with Kentucky Opera and as the titular Frida Kahlo in El ultimo sueño de Frida y Diego at Opera Omaha.  In the summer of 2024, she joins West Edge Opera as Flosshilde/Fricka/Erda in Der Ring in einem Abend and the Newport Music Festival in the title role of Carmen.  Looking ahead to the 2024/25 season, she will return to Phoenix Symphony for Handel's Messiah and The Lyric Opera of Chicago for Missy Mazzoli's The Listeners.  She reprises the role of Carlotta de Obragon in Zorro with Arizona Opera and debuts with Seattle Opera as Yesi in the workshop of Stomping Grounds.

SEASON SPOTLIGHT

In 2024, Stephanie Sánchez enjoyed a powerful debut with Opera Omaha, performing the title role of Frida Kahlo in El último sueño de Frida y Diego, in which her portrayal "breathe[s] life into the iconic artist’s spirit" (KNVO Classical Radio). She returns to the role in 2026.
